The Advantages of JFTThe American College of Rheumatology recommends joint fluid therapy as an appropriate early treatment for osteoarthritis (OA) when simple exercise and over-the-counter painkillers are no longer adequate. It is suggested as a safe, less invasive alternative to pharmaceuticals and knee surgery necessary for advanced pain.1 In clinical studies, joint fluid therapy has proven to provide significant relief from OA knee pain. Groups receiving SUPARTZ Joint Fluid Therapy were shown to have no greater incidence or severity of side effects than the control group receiving placebos. In addition, joint fluid therapy represents an opportunity for physicians to provide a total treatment plan to OA sufferers. By offering an effective pain relief treatment in the early stages of OA, physicians have the ability to better serve patients and to develop an extensive long-term case history. 1 - American College of Rheumatology, Recommendations for the Medical Management of Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Knee, American College of Rheumatology Subcommittee on Osteoarthritis Guidelines, Volume 43, No. 9, September 2000, pp 1905-1915. |
