Molecular weight and method of action

The molecular weight of SUPARTZ Joint Fluid Therapy is 620,000 - 1,170,000 Daltons. The American College of Rheumatology reports that the molecular weight of a hyaluronan product has no demonstrated connection to its clinical efficacy. The method of action remains unclear, although several options have been proposed - "inhibition of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines and prostaglandins, stimulation of cartilage matrix synthesis and inhibition of cartilage degradation, and a direct protective action on nociceptive nerve endings."2
